When I first heard about the electronic cigarette my first reaction was that this was a novelty item that wasn’t to be taken seriously.  But upon closer inspection I realized that this is an ingenious invention that has the potential to revolutionize the way people smoke forever.

What exactly is an electronic cigarette? Here is a description of what it is, how it works and how it can potentially benefit you or a loved one.

The e-cigarette is a battery powered device that looks, feels, tastes, and reacts like a cigarette… but it’s not a real cigarette!  It even delivers nicotine but without the harmful smoke, tar and chemicals associated with real tobacco smoke.  The nicotine is inhaled via a clean odorless vapor.

An electronic cigarette is typically made up of three parts:

1. Atomizer
2. Battery
3. Nicotine Cartridge

NOTE: Some of the newer models combine the atomizer and nicotine cartridges as one disposable unit.  The advantage of this is that you always have a fresh atomizer instead of a single atomizer that can become clogged and less efficient over time.  A fresh atomizer will insure that you get the highest volume of vapor on each puff, adding to a more satisfactory smoking experience.

Let’s go over what each component does:

1. Atomizer. This heats up and vaporizes a mixture of liquid nicotine.  The sensation of inhaling this vapor is very similar to real cigarette smoke but without the same health risks.  It even has a warm feel to it which adds to a realistic experience. The vapor produces a cloud that looks like smoke but is actually just a mist that quickly disappears.

2. Battery.
Nothing too complicated here, just a rechargeable battery that powers the atomizer. It is shaped to look like the body of a real cigarette.  The lifespan of batteries varies from model to model.  The lifespan depends on the number of mouth puffs.  Typically you will get 150 – 400 puffs before having to recharge the battery.

3. Nicotine cartridge. These cartridges are made up of a water/nicotine solution.  A single cartridge is typically the equivalent of 1 – 1.5 packs of tobacco cigarettes.  Different nicotine strengths are available in high, low, or medium.  Most manufacturers also offer a variety of flavors ranging from traditional tobacco flavor, menthol, vanilla, chocolate and fruit flavors.

The electronic cigarette is surprisingly similar to the real thing but without the same health risks.  There is no lingering offensive odor. It’s also a lot less expensive than tobacco cigarettes.  This combined with the fact that you can use it anywhere makes e-smoking a sensible and healthier alternative, one worth considering either for yourself or a loved one.

Thereâ??s a new movement heating up the culinary scene: high tech cooking, also called molecular gastronomy. For many decades California Cuisine has thrived, with its focus on fresh, local, organic ingredients. Now chefs are focusing on a need for attention to preparation as well, and they are using scientific techniques, tools and exactitude. High-tech is now enabling greater results in high-end cooking.

High-tech chefs use equipment typically found in labs, such as thermal immersion circulators, rotary evaporators, dehydrators and vacuum sealers.

A rotary evaporator, also known as a â??rotavap,â? is an apparatus used in chemical laboratories for the efficient and gentle removal of solvents from samples by evaporation. One of the more popular brands of rotary evaporators is Buchi, and a peek behind the doors of a growing number of high-end kitchens will reveal a Buchi rotary evaporator. Chefs are using them to preserve flavors in liquids that would usually boil off in the cooking process.

As the focus of high-end cooking moves to sophisticated preparation techniques, chefs are turning to technology to control temperature as well. Equipment used by lab scientists to keep temperatures at a constant state, such as thermal immersion circulators manufactured by Buchi, are now found in more and more high-end commercial kitchens.

A thermal immersion circulator is a device that circulates warm fluid, and keeps the temperature of the fluid constant as opposed to heating the liquid quickly. The thermal immersion circulator is being used more and more by chefs hoping to create a more precise preparation of main courses such as chicken and fish. Chefs package food in a water-tight bag and immerse it in liquid. This process is completed at a lower temperature than cooking the product in an oven or on a stove top. The result is a tender, flavorful main course.

One leader in the field of molecular gastronomy is Dave Arnold, the French Culinary Instituteâ??s director of culinary technology. Regarding the use of thermal immersion circulators, Arnold has said, â??”For chefs, especially with fish, a matter of one or two degrees can have a huge effect.â?

In the same interview, Arnold continued, â??There are many food technologists and food scientists who have had technologies, ideas, procedures and ingredients under their belt for many years, but there has not been a pipeline between them and chefs. What we can do is parse out for chefs what will be good for them, go and find it in the industrial world, and help them apply it. If we can find some new gum or gel that will produce a particular effect in a sauce we’ll do it. Anything that controls temperature or humidity or slices, chops, blends or pulps in a new and different way is interesting to us. There are some people who like to say that they don’t want technology in the kitchen, that it takes away from the romantic notion of a chef tasting sauces and making adjustments here and there, that they’re less in touch with the food, but frankly I don’t think that’s the case. A great chef can cook an amazing meal with a stick and a fire, all these pieces of technology are just another tool in their toolkit.”

You just can’t imagine how important internet means to us. In other word, it’s never too excessive to say we can not live without the internet.

Except for some entertainment outdoor, what about your indoor activities, reading books, watching TV or playing games? Well, for me surfing online could combine all those activities together, for example, I can read e-books, watch online movies or play online games. With a computer I can do everything and have lots of fun. And I do believe that I am not the only one who enjoys online life.

To enrich your online life, here are three electronic gadgets you must have, that is, USB Eye Warmer, USB Small Refrigerator, USB Drumming Santa.

Equipment with a USB Small Refrigerator, there is no need for you to go out for food or eat fast food, the only thing you should do is to open the refrigerator and take out your favorite fresh food. This small USB refrigerator with a closed door design can not only reduce the temperature to 8.5 degree in 5 minutes but also warm things up to 60 degree! What is amazing is that a beautiful LED light will indicate its working condition.

You may doubted that what to do with a USB Drumming Santa. As is known to all, Christmas is coming, why not take this as a small Christmas gifts for yourself. Couldn’t such cute a gadget recall you beautiful childhood memory merely by plugging it into any USB port on your PC or notebook, you will appreciating Santa Claus drumming to the rhythm. Sitting in front of computer for too long a time, this must add interest to your work and help you relaxed.

Look at the last one: USB Eye Warmer. It is a must for those who are often in front of computer and use eyes too much. This useful cool gadget is ready to warm your eyes, promote ocular blood circulation and then protect your eyes. It can also reduce the under-eye puffiness and black eye symptoms to return your beautiful eyes. Most important, it will release your eyes fatigue, relax and enjoy a healthy and joyful online life.

Just imagine again: have your favorite cool drink, then put on the eye warmer, at the same time, play the pleasant Santa drumming. How wonderful and leisure life could be!

In the ideal situation, you buy a computer, install it and use it smoothly. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. Everybody will receive some error messages sometimes or some unexplained failures. Should you call in a computer technician immediately or are there a few things that you should try by yourself to solve the problem? It depends on the case. When you see a message saying that you have a motherboard failure, it is definitely time to call in the IT and not try to solve it on your own. A few smaller issues, though, could probably be easily solved by you.

When you receive messages that your computer does not have enough memory to run an application, it does not always mean that you need to buy more memory. Some programs that use memory do not give it back when done. This is one of the many design limitations of Microsoft. Use the Task Manager to close ‘hidden’ programs and free memory for programs that are in use.

Memory errors are also often created by misinterpretations of the operating system. Run a virus checker that is up to date and see if this solves the problem.

A very common and often occurring problem is freezing of the computer. The applications are not responding anymore and everything runs in slow motion. The main reason of this is poor maintenance. Learn to use Ctrl+Alt+Del. This is not going to shut down everything completely as in the old days. Instead, it makes the Task Manager appear. Here you can see all the applications that are running. Find the one(s) that don not respond and choose ‘end now’.

Another simple solution for common problems as slow motion and freezing is rebooting. By shutting down and restarting the computer, programs are closed properly and fresh copies of the files that are needed to run the operating system are reloaded.

This is a good option to save time, but does not solve all the computer problems. The reason of freezing will not be solved or changed at all. After a crash, you should always run ScanDisk on the computer, so it will find and solve basic problems. ScanDisk can normally be found in the Start Menu under Accessories and System Tools. However, Windows XP named it differently. From ‘My computer, right-click on C: and click on ‘Properties’. On the ‘Tools’ tab, you will find ‘error checking’ and ‘Check Now’

Another thing that should be done regularly and definitely after a crash is Defragmentation. When you use a computer longer, the files become spread out over the whole hard drive. The computer needs to work very hard to find them back. The defragmentation function puts related files close to each other and speeds up the computer considerably. This function can normally be found right next to the ScanDisk.

If your computer crashes before you saved your file, it does not mean that you have lost the file. AutoRecover might have saved it for you. This is, when it was turned on. In MSWord you can turn on AutoRecover by clicking on ‘Tools’ and ‘Options’. Click on the ‘Save’ tab and checkmark AutoRecover. Was it not turned on when your computer crashed, you might find the file back in one of the temporary files. Click on ‘Start’, ‘Find’, ‘Files and Folders’. In the box ‘named:’ you type *.wbk and ‘look in:’ C:. Find the file by checking the time that is was created and the size. If you have found the file, change the file name to end with .doc and then double click on it to open it in MSWord.

Having connection problems? Or does it seem that the internet is down? Try other sites first, to see if the problem lies with your connection or with the website that you try to visit. Restarting the browser or the computer does also solve many problems that look as if coming from the connection.

If you have tried all these things without success, it is time to call in an expert for your computer repairs. The best computer technicians will make your computer onsite and on the same day. Try to help them identifying the problem, when they arrive. Make sure you have written down everything that you did and the results. Or if possible take a screenshot to use as a record of what went wrong. The screenshot captures the error message, and shows the programs that are running, which could be very helpful information for the computer repair expert. This is how you do it: Hit the ‘print screen’ button. Then open Microsoft Paint (by clicking Start – Programs – Accessories) and then select edit and paste the screenshot. Now you can save it or print it out for the IT expert and save you both time and money.

Finding the best approach to computer repairs in Brisbane and across Australia can be especially challenging. Follow these tips and advice first so you are well prepared before you contact a same day computer repairs service in your local area.

If you are not sure what exactly an electronic cigarette is, I will explain it right quick. For those who do know what they are, you can skip this paragraph. Electronic cigarettes or “e-Cigarettes” are just like traditional cigarettes without as many health hazards. They contain no tar, no pollution, no carbon monoxide, and no lit end but they do contain nicotine. They are a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes, cigars, or pipes and can be smoked just about anywhere. Whether you are at a restaurant, in an airplane, on a bus, or anywhere else that prohibits smoking in the area, you are able to enjoy e-cigarettes.

There are many benefits, when it comes to using electronic cigarettes. Here are 10 reasons why electronic cigarettes are better than traditional cigarettes:

10. There are a variety of flavors to choose from. You can choose from apple, strawberry, coffee, vanilla, mint/menthol, cherry, or many other different flavors. This is not including the traditional full flavors and strengths.

9. Better tasting than traditional cigarettes. Even when kissing a non-smoker, they don’t complain about how your mouth tastes like an ash tray. The vapors, which contain the nicotine, does not have the same after taste traditional cigarettes leave in your mouth or on your clothes. When you taste the vapors, it’s like a fresh taste and a fresher smell.

8. Not as messy as traditional cigarettes. No more worrying over ashes getting everywhere or messy cigarette butts laying around in your ash tray or flicking them out of the window. The cartridge, which is the filter part, snaps on and off. Each cartridge lasts about as long as 2 packs of traditional cigarettes. When you change the cartridge, you snap in a different cartridge and throw away the old one.

7. No one complaining about how your smoking habits are affecting them. Don’t you get tired of people saying “Can you move somewhere else? Your smoke is bothering me.”? Well, with electronic cigarettes, the smoke or vapors you exhale smell very pleasant, compared to traditional cigarettes. So, no more worries of people complaining about your habbits anymore.

6. The ability to smoke anywhere such as stores, planes, work places, and many other areas. You are able to smoke electronic cigarettes just about anywhere. I would advise you to mention to the store owner, a manager, or a co-worker, before you do e-smoke though. I wouldn’t want someone getting arrested or kicked out of a place for someone thinking you were actually smoking.

5. No lit end to set fires. No more worries of dropping your cigarette in your car and burn a hole in the floor, or tossing your cigarette out of the window and see it catch something on fire.

4. Cheaper than traditional cigarettes. With cigarette prices, these days, going up in price everyday. Stop paying $50 or more for a carton of cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes cost half that price or less. You can buy a carton of cartridges for about $17 to around $25 and they last just as long. So, you can get about 2 cartons of electronic cigarettes for the same price as one carton of traditional cigarettes.

3. No worries of second-hand smoke. The vapors given off by electronic cigarettes are basically just water vapors with nicotine in them. There is no carbon monoxide found within the vapor, which is better health wise, too.

2. Less health hazards. As stated on the previous reason, electronic cigarettes do not contain any form of carbon monoxide. Also, there is no burning paper fumes going inside of your lungs, either. Although, electronic cigarettes are not healthy or great for your health, they are a better alternative than traditional cigarettes.

1. Better for your health. I’m not saying they are completely safe or healthy but they are a safer alternative.

Electronic cigarettes help you in many ways. You can use them as either a safer way to smoke everyday and anywhere, if you would like to keep smoking, or you can use them to quit smoking. If you choose to quit smoking by using the electronic cigarettes method, my advance to you would be to purchase the same milligram (MG) equal to your current cigarette brand. By this, I mean if you are smoking Full Flavor Marlboro cigarettes, you choose the 16MG cartridges. Once it’s time to buy refills, go to the next lowest MG available and work your way backwards, until you reach the non-nicotine cartridges. Once you are at the non-nicotine cartridges, you can either lay down the electronic cigarette or if you still have that urge of wanting to smoke one, the non-nicotine cartridges are safe enough to use, in order to take away that loss feeling.

In my own personal thoughts about electronic cigarettes, I found them to be a lot more refreshing than traditional cigarettes. I chose to go with the company called “Blu” and bought my starter kit for $59. When they came in the mail, I couldn’t wait to try it out to see what it tasted like. The electronic cigarette, itself, was quiet heavy because of the battery, that is inside of them. When I took the first puff or pull off of the cartridge filter and inhaled, I was quiet amazed. It did not have a bland taste to them or anything nasty tasting. I chose to go with the menthol flavor, since I’m used to smoking Newports. Compared to them, they were actually better tasting and had a fresher feeling to them.

As the time went by, I never had a craving to go back to traditional cigarettes and I have told so many of my smoking friends about the electronic cigarettes and had my friends try a pull off mine. They were so impressed that they ended up buying a starter kit, as well. So, everyone I know is “e-smoking” and it’s so nice. I will never switch back to traditional cigarettes.

Gone are the days when people memorized website URLs to get the information or service they want. With the exception of a few popular websites like http://eBay.com, http://NBA.com, and http://CNN.com people have come to rely more and more on search engines to get to websites containing the information or service they need. Because of this, search engine optimization has become an invaluable tool in website design for people and companies to be able to reach their target audience. Without search engine optimization, even a quality website would find it difficult to reach a very wide audience.

Factors Affecting Page Rank

Search engine optimization (SEO) is simply the method of increasing a web site’s ranking in search engine results listing. According to an article by SEO experts, the top ten ranking factors that can influence a web document’s rank at the major search engines like Yahoo!, MSN, Google & AskJeeves for a particular term or phrase are the following: Title Tag, Anchor Text of Links, Keyword Use in Document Text, Accessibility of Document, Links to Document from within the Site (Internal Pages), Primary Subject Matter of Site, External Links to Linking Pages, Link Popularity of Site in Topical Community, Global Link Popularity of Site, and Keyword Spamming. Note, however, that although keyword density does affect page rank it is often frowned on as is considered to be a questionable technique when it is over 10 to 20% the actual content since it appears to be spamming then.

The Effect of Fresh Content in SEO

It is not enough for your website to apply the other SEO techniques like meta tag optimization and link analysis. Fresh content, meaning relevant content delivered on a regular basis is imperative to a successful SEO. Although not mentioned as one of the top ten ranking factor, one of the recurring factors affecting page rank mentioned in SEO articles is content. Not just any content but the freshness and consistency of content. Since it is a factor mentioned in many existing articles I’ve come across, common sense dictates that the freshness of content is indeed an important factor in page ranking. Major search engines like Google are known to rank pages not only according to the relevancy of the content but also according to how fresh the content is. Dated content can lower the page rank of an otherwise well designed website and ruin SEO efforts. A fresh content on the other hand will contribute to the success of search engine optimization.

Ways to Deliver Fresh Content on a Regular Basis

However for SEO to be successful the fresh content delivered by the website should be in a form that is readable to search engine. Ordinary content writers, of course wouldn’t know how to make their content readable by search engines. The good news is that there is no special effort needed on the part of content writer to make their content readable by search engines. All that is needed is a good dynamic, database driven content management system (CMS).

Content management systems might seem hard to manage but they are actually relatively easy once you get the hang of it and get past the learning stage. Learning to use them can, however, prove to be tricky. It is best to get the help of web developers when setting up a website’s content management system. CMSs are however very useful especially for websites with multiple users who can contribute to the site’s content. Mambo and PHPNuke are recommended for starters.

Another way to deliver fresh content at a regular basis is by using a weblog. Maintaining a weblog is an easy and cost effective way of updating your site. A good weblog should always be frequently updated, full of rich and informative articles, and should allow readers to post comments. According to an article by Matt Foster, aside from the ability to add fresh content regularly, a weblog integrated in your website will also achieve the following desirable results:

• It will increase the amount of inbound links to your website

• It will increase the frequency at which the web search engines will spider or crawl your website ( this is due to the frequent update in content )

• It will increase the interactivity for the web user; and

• It will ultimately improve your search engine ranking.

Two of examples of good easy to use blogging tools that can be integrated into websites are Blogger and WordPress.

For those who are a bit more tech savvy and know how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver, Dreamweaver is a design software that can help you update your website with more control. With Dreamweaver you can add or change not only the written content but the whole look from color schemes to fonts and even the layout of your website. But if you do not have a need for such control over your website and feel a bit daunted by Dreamweaver, Macromedia Contribute would be a good option. There are, of course other design software out there, which you can use.

The Importance of Fresh Content Beyond SEO

After learning how to regularly deliver fresh content to optimize your website’s rank it is important to know that its importance and effect to your website goes way beyond that. Aside from the success it contributes to SEO efforts, fresh content will not only get the website noticed by search engines but is imperative in keeping the website audience. People usually go on the net not just for relevant information but for timely information as well. After the search engines show a website as a result of a search string and people get to visit the site it is up to the fresh content to convince the people to keep on coming back to the site. If the website content is outdated and is updated rather infrequently and erratically, the chances of the target audience going back to the site on a regular basis, if at all, will be rather slim. Even the best SEO efforts will be wasted if the target audience decides that the website is not worth visiting. Therefore fresh content really is one of the keys to a successful SEO and thus a successful website.
